This particular location’s patient population is largely uninsured or low-income Medicaid beneficiaries. Additionally, a large majority of the patients are non-English speaking or speak very limited English. Typically, the employees at this location overcome this language barrier through the use of apps, such as Google Translate. This is a great resource, but during high volume times it becomes difficult to spend a meaningful amount of time with these patients fully addressing their healthcare questions. This event is a great opportunity for student pharmacists to practice communicating with a diverse, typically underserved population by accessing resources to overcome barriers.
